Bullies, Bows, and Bassinets

by Adrienne on March 6, 2010

Today Emma and I went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and met my friend Tonya and her little baby Keira.

Sweet little Keira.

We had a little incident today in the play area at Chick-fil-a.  Emma was playing and was up at the top of the slide ( an area that you can’t see from below).  I kept watching and waiting for her to come down the slide and then noticed all the Mom’s looking up towards the top of the slide and then looking at me. I went in the play area and could hear Emma screaming at the top of her lungs. I felt so helpless for a second because I couldn’t see her and there was no easy way for me to get to her.  Then I heard a little kid say “she’s choking her she’s choking her!”  I moved so fast up the slide that I’m pretty sure I pulled a muscle.  Emma was at the top and there was another little girl who was probably 3 0r 4, she had Emma’s shirt wrapped around her neck and was choking her with it! I grabbed Emma took her back down the slide with me.  I Composed myself, calmed Emma down, took her to the car and then I started crying.  Maybe it was the hormones, the fact that Emma had a bruise on her neck, my pulled muscle, or the fact that there were 5 moms and 1 dad standing in the play area listening to my daughter scream and watched me a 6 and a half month pregnant Mom climb up a plastic twisty slide and not one of them offered me any help. They all just stood there.

Emma is fine. She has a small bruise on the back of her neck.  I do think I pulled a muscle, but I’m sure I will be fine.  We will not be going to Chick-fil-a any more unless Wesley is with us.

Anyway….. Tonya gave me a bassinet today for Ava.  Her little girl Keira didn’t use it.

I love how girly it is.

I have decided that I’m going to try making bows for Emma and Ava.  I ordered a bunch of ribbon and supplies and last night I sat down to make my very first bow.

I’m still experimenting with different types of bows and I’m sure it will take some practice before I’m really good at making them.

Here is another bow I made for Emma for Disney World.

Well Honey! That sounds traumatic. It’s amazing the things we can do when our kids need us. I am glad you are both ok. On a positive note love the bows and the bassinet is beautiful.

Wow what a traumatic experience. I am sorry about that. I have never liked those so I will stay away for good now.
Good Luck making bows. It takes lots or practice and lots of money up front to get all the supplies and ribbons you want. LEt me know ifyou need anything.

Poor little Emma. I’m sure she’ll be talking about that incident for a while! I’m not sure I could’ve resisted the urge to bring the little bully down the slide with me so I could have a “talk” with her – and her mom. Good for you!

I LOVE the bows – they both look great!!

That sounds terrible…I can’t believe that happened, poor Emma. The bows look great! I love the multi-colored one that matches her Disney shirt. Let me know how the bow making goes :)

Oh my gosh!! That is really awful! Poor Emma! I hope she’s not traumatized about Chick-Fil-A from now on, lol! I think I might be if I were her! Your bows look great!! I should have tried to make them myself too…the ones I like are SO expensive!!

Bless little Emma! I think I would have spit fire at that kid. I really have to resist parenting other people’s children when we are out. Love the bassinet and bows! Hope I get to invest in some one day…here’s to wishful thinking :)

Ya know its amazing to me how other people can just stand around and watch.
I remember being very pregnant @ the grocery store. Lacey and skylar turned over the buggy (they were in it) and nobody bothered to help me pick up the girls or the buggy. Amazing!!! Glad everyone is ok!
