Back from a blog break!

by Adrienne on May 27, 2010

I’ve been taking a little bit of a blog break here lately.  Not that I’ve been doing anything exciting really, but I have been busy.  I guess I’ve been “nesting” because I have been trying to do a lot of cleaning.  The problem is that I don’t usually have the energy to do much at a time, so it can take a while to get just a few simple chores finished.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and am happy to report that Ava looked great!  My fluid levels were up and we got to see her move around and practice breathing! Yay!  Tonight is a full moon and I’m hoping it will send me into labor.  Eric is kind of freaking out thinking that I will have her tonight or in the morning. HA!

Eric and I finally got caught up on LOST and watched the finale last night!  We have been watching the show since the beginning and we were sad for it to be over.

So without spoiling anything for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, I was mostly happy with the way it ended, but Eric was not.  He felt they didn’t tie everything up and left a lot of questions about the island unanswered.  I think they wrapped everything up well, and while I agree they didn’t explain a lot of stuff, I think it was just kind of left that way for viewers to interpret how they wanted to.

Tuesday night we FINALLY had a Ladies Night Out.  We went to Abuelos in Turkey Creek.  YUMMY!

I feel SO blessed to have such a great group of godly women to hang out with.  We always have such a great time.  There are a few pregnant women in this group and after dinner we decided we needed some ice cream and went to Marble Slab.

I realized today that my blog is one year old this month!  Happy Birthday Reagan Tales!

Today was Wesley’s very last day of first grade.  The class celebrated with ice cream sundaes and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  Wesley has had such a great year this year and we are so thankful for his wonderful teacher and sweet friends.

This is Wesley on his first day of first grade with his teacher Ms. Wright.

And on his last day of first grade.

Wesley and his buddy Garrett.

His friend Joe.

His pal Bailey.

We have been praying for Bailey’s Daddy who was diagnosed earlier this year with stage 4 colon cancer.  She and her Mom shared with us today that he is now in remission! Praise God! We are so excited for them. Wesley has been so sweet to remember to pray for them EVERY day.

Wesley with Bailey and Isabella.

The whole class was all hopped up on sugar and they decided to climb into their cubbies for a picture.

I can’t believe I have a second grader!

Today my friend Melissa and her husband Chad said they wanted to bring over a gift that Chad made for us.  I had no idea what it was and I think my jaw dropped to the floor when they carried this into our house.

I still can’t believe that he made this for us!  It is so gorgeous!  I’m sure it is something we will have forever!

It’s so nice to have such talented friends!

Here are some pictures of the girls room.  I still need to find something cute to hang above Emma’s bed, but I think it has turned out pretty cute. I thought I would show the progression this room has made over the past couple of years.

This is what it looked like when we moved in. The lady that lived here before us had done the mural for her little girl.

I decided that there wasn’t enough pink so we painted it two shades of pink stripes.

And here it is now….

Now we just need Ava to make the room complete. :)

Ava update

by Adrienne on May 18, 2010

I went to the Doctor today to have a check up and an ultrasound to check Ava’s size.  I had really been looking forward to seeing my sweet girl via ultrasound.  We really didn’t get to see much of her because she is so squished in there.  They measured her head, spine legs and a few other things and estimated that she weighs 7 lbs. 3oz.  Seems kind of on the big side to me since we still have about 3 weeks, but they assured me that this is still considered average even for her gestational age and they seemed confident that she would not be as big as her ginormous sister.

About half way through the ultrasound the nurse listened to her heartbeat (which was on the low side) and asked me if I feel her move very often. I told her yes, and I was pretty sure she was asleep.  We tried everything to get her to wake up, but she wouldn’t.  She mentioned that my amniotic fluid was low, and I started to feel a little uneasy ( OK I was freaking out).  I could also tell by the look of panic on Eric’s face that he was also a little “uneasy”.  She just kept staring at her heart and didn’t say anything.  She told us that she really wanted to see Ava practice her breathing, but she probably wouldn’t do that since she was asleep.  My doctor came in and she gave him all the stats and he seemed to be totally fine with everything. That made me feel a little better.  They are going to be doing another ultrasound next week and hope to see her move around some more and practice her breathing.  I’m sure that all of this is normal and they just want to double check everything, but I left the appointment not feeling so great about what had happened.  I’m really praying and trying not to let it bother me, but I keep thinking ” Is she moving around enough?”, ” Should I be worried?”

So I would appreciate your prayers for Ava and for my sanity.

I plan on drinking a big huge glass of sweet tea before my next appointment.  Maybe she will be a little more active.

36 weeks/ weekend pics

by Adrienne on May 16, 2010

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I am 36 weeks now!  I’m almost there!

  • I forgot to take a 34 week picture. Oh well. I think we will be officially be done with the pregnancy pictures.  I’ll probably take one more before we leave for the hospital.  We have an ultrasound on Tuesday to see how big Ava is.  I’ve probably mentioned before that Emma was 9lbs 3 oz. when she was born, so I’m a little nervous that Ava will be that big or bigger.  I feel like she is big, and look at my belly!  Here is a picture of me the morning that we left for the hospital to have Emma.

What do you think?

I think my belly looks bigger now than it did with Emma.

Anyway…

  • I’ve definitely reached the ” get this baby out of me” stage.
  • I am really tired all the time, but can’t sleep at night.
  • Ava has the hiccups 3-4 times every day.
  • The room is ready except for a few finishing touches.
  • I washed some of Ava’s clothes and packed her little bag for the hospital.
  • If Ava is born now she will be considered full term.
  • Hello heartburn!

Since I’ve been so tired lately we decided to stay home on Saturday and just enjoy some quiet family time.  It was SO hot, so we got out the kids pool and they had a blast swimming in it for the first time this summer!

I’m not really sure what this face is, but I asked her to smile and this is what I got.

When they got tired of swimming they decided to play with play-doh,

and play on the playground.

We tried putting water on the slide to make it faster, but it didn’t work very well. Ha Ha!

Eric and I went on a date today and saw the movie Date Night.  It was so funny!

It might be a while before we are able to go on a date again.

Thanks to Eric’s grandmother (Maa) for watching the kids for us so we could have a date.

I wanted to put on here a couple of cute things that Emma has said that I don’t want to forget.

When we get them happy meals Wesley always gets milk to drink and Emma always gets apple juice.  She thinks we are saying “happy milk” instead of happy meal.  So when we asked her if she wanted a happy meal she said ” Emma wants a happy apple juice Wesley wants happy milk.”

She calls bath robes egg rolls. Not sure how that got mixed up, but when she gets out of the tub she says she wants to put on her egg roll.

Build-a-Bear and Baby Books

by Adrienne on May 12, 2010

Today I took the kids to make a Build-a-Bear for Ava.  I guess it’s kind of a tradition now.  Eric and I made one for Wesley before he was born and Wesley made one for Emma.

They both made a wish on their hearts and put them both in Ava’s bunny.

Giving their bunny a bath.

They named the bunny Ava.  We try not to get too creative with names. Ha!

Today I got Ava’s letters that match Emma’s.  Now I have to figure out where I’m going to hang them.

At my shower this weekend I got Ava’s baby book and keepsake box.  I’m sure that Ava’s baby book will not have as much written in it as Wesley’s ( as is typical with a third child), but I’m going to try to have more than just her name in it.  All three of the kids have a keepsake box and baby book.

Wesley’s

Emma’s

Ava’s

I love having a keepsake box to put cards, baby spoons, shoes, hospital caps and other stuff that won’t fit in a baby book.

I guess I should go write something in Ava’s baby book. :)

A girly girl room sneak peek

by Adrienne on May 11, 2010

I’m still not finished with Emma and Ava’s room, but I decided to show a few pictures of what I’ve done so far.

Here is the changing table that used to be a dark cherry finish and i painted it white.  I got the pink knobs at Hobby Lobby.  They are ordering more for me, as you can see the knob on the drawer is missing.  You can see part of the crib in this picture too.  I still need to put another coat of paint on it.

This is hard to see in this picture, but it says “Thank heaven for little girls”.  I also found this at Hobby Lobby.

Here is Emma’s big girl bed.  I am having a white quilted pillowcase monogrammed for her, but it isn’t ready yet.

Here is their closet. Ava’s clothes on the right and Emma’s on the left.

I don’t think I’ve ever put a picture of Emma’s bookcase on here.  It is rarely ever this neat.

Emma loves her big girl bed.  She wanted me to take a picture of her in it.

So I have a few more projects before the room is finished but we are pretty close to being done.

Do you think there is enough pink?

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful Mom’s out there.  I feel so blessed that the Lord has given me favor and blessed me with two beautiful children and one on the way!  Being a Mommy is the hardest job I’ve ever had, but I love it more than anything.  There isn’t a day [...]

A baby shower for Ava

Today my sister Heather and some other friends and family gave me  a baby shower.  We had so much fun and I feel so blessed to have so many sweet people in my life.  Heather came up with most of the decorations on her own and everything was so cute. Emma just couldn’t help herself.  [...]

Getting ready for Ava

I have been a busy little bee ( OK maybe not “little”) getting ready for Ava.  I have been painting the crib, changing table and hutch this week.  We had a little accident this weekend while I was painting.  Eric had the great idea to hang up the four sides of the crib on a [...]
