Gingerbread House Competition 2010

by Adrienne on November 28, 2010

Tonight was the much anticipated annual Gingerbread House Competition!

Several years ago, my Mom thought it would be a fun tradition to have us over to make gingerbread houses together.  I’m sure she never imagined that it would turn into a full blown competition.

Getting prepped.

This was Megan’s first year. She brought her A-game.

Adam, last year’s champ, trying desperately to keep his title.

Serious. Business.

Heather being all “creative and cool”.

In the meantime…

The kids had fun making cookies.

I could not keep this girl out of the candy!

Ava was cheering for her Mommy.

Here are the finished products.

I won “Best Roof.”

Here’s a closer look.

Megan won “Most Symmetrical.”

Adam won “Most Realistic Snow.”

Heather won “Best Landscaping.”

And the winner of the 2010 Gingerbread House Competition is……

MEGAN!!!

She won a cookie that Wesley made for the winner! :)

Thanksgiving

by Adrienne on November 28, 2010

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We had a great one for sure!  We had three stops to make this year, but first we had to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

We started out at my Mom’s for lunch.

This year was Ava’s very first Thanksgiving!

Megan and Jason came over the mountains and through the woods to have Thanksgiving dinner with us.

Emma hanging out at the kids table.

Beautiful Olivia.

I always have a great time visiting with my sisters.

Our second stop was at Eric’s grandmother’s house (Maa) for dessert. They have a late lunch, but we usually are too full to eat anything, but dessert.

I don’t think I’ve said anything about this on my blog, but our dog Reese went to live with Eric’s Mom and Stepdad after Ava was born.  We just couldn’t give her the attention she deserved. She has it made there! She has 22 acres to run and play with four other dogs, and Eric’s mom lets her sleep in her bed with her. She is spoiled! We miss her, and were happy to see her at Thanksgiving!

Our third and final stop was at my Mamaw’s house for dinner.  We had so much fun, that I forgot to take any pictures!

I am so thankful for everything!

Thirty One

by Adrienne on November 15, 2010

A few weeks ago, I hosted a Thirty One party, and it was a lot of fun.  I can officially say that I am hooked now. I got my order a few days ago, and I love love love everything!!

I bought several Christmas presents, but this is what I got for myself.

Cute huh?

This is the skirt purse. You buy the purse and it comes with a skirt of your choice, and then you can buy new skirts and have a whole new purse! Genius!

This is the one I got for my Mom for Christmas. ( Shhhh don’t tell her.)

This is my favorite. I know I will be ordering another one of these sometime soon. This is the large utility tote. It is HUGE!

This is the about town blanket. It rolls out into a nice size blanket. One side is fleece, and the other side is waterproof.

If anyone wants to order some Christmas presents, you could also help out an awesome family!  The Harris family at our church is trying to raise money for their adoption.

You can go here to look at the CUTE stuff, and if you want to order anything, just send me an email at adriennelreagan@gmail.com.

You can check some people off of your Christmas list, and help a family bring their son home from Ethiopia.

P.S.

Thanks to Ashley Longnecker for doing the party for me! You are awesome for doing the fundraiser too!!

Ava is 5 months

by Adrienne on November 10, 2010

Ava Charlotte turned 5 months last month on the 30th! That means that at the end of this month we will be celebrating her 1/2 birthday!

I am SO in love right now with this little sweetie. She is so precious. I just can’t get enough! I was driving down the road today and she started making her little cooing sounds and I seriously thought about pulling the car over so I could get her out and just squeeze her!

At 5 months Ava is:

  • rolling over from back to her tummy
  • will sleep from 6-7 hours at a time at night! yay!
  • has started eating cereal
  • wears 3-6 months clothes
  • is teething, but no teeth yet
  • flirts with her Daddy
  • still tries her best to watch TV when cartoons are on
  • is pretty much happy all the time especially when she is held or talked to

I decided to put up the Christmas decorations this weekend. Now, please don’t be a grinchy scrooge and tell me how Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year and poor Thanksgiving and blah blah blah. I know it’s not for everyone, but I figure since I put a lot of effort into decorating I’d like to enjoy it longer, and I also just really love Christmas!

This will be Ava’s first Christmas, and so far she loves it!

Emma has been super excited since I got the decorations out. I let her help me decorate the tree and she loved it! She actually loves the decorations a little too much. She just will not leave them alone!

Emma and Ava’s tree will not have any decorations on it this year, because I’m sure they wouldn’t stay on long.

My house has been such a mess the past few days! This is a sneak peek at what my living room looked like this morning.

I should be really embarrassed huh? It looks a little better tonight…but not much. :)

C is for Cookies…and Cereal

by Adrienne on November 3, 2010

Today we made Fall cookies.  And when I say we, I really mean we. Wesley and Emma helped, which was a little hard for me. Mostly, because Ava was kind of fussy and I knew it would be easier and faster if I just did everything by myself. I’m glad I let them help me though, because they LOVED it. So now I feel guilty that I don’t let them help me more often. I’m going to try to be better about that.

Most people wear aprons when they bake, but Emma decided a tutu would be much more practical.

The best part about baking is taste testing don’t you think?

Here is a sampling of some of their amazing decorating skills.

We ended up making so many, that we decided to share.

Today was also a big day for our little Ava.  She had cereal today for the first time!

She was NOT impressed!

I think she was hoping for a cookie.

She was happy when we were done.

And she loved looking at herself in Daddy’s camera.

Fall Maddness

by Adrienne on November 1, 2010

Whew! It’s been a crazy, but fun week.  I will try to catch everyone up to speed on a few of the events we went to last week.

Saturday we were invited over to the Gifford’s Fall party.  We ate lots of yummy food, and we got to go on a hayride to their pumpkin patch.

We had a great time.

Sunday I took my two princesses to meet up with our royal BFFs and went to Disney Princesses on Ice.

My two sweet Cinderellas.

They were so excited!

All the princesses, their prince charmings, tinkerbell, and Mickey and Minnie.

Princess Cinderella and Princess Aurora.

We went straight from there and met up with Eric and Wesley Batman at Eric’s grandmothers church for another Fall festival. I feel so terrible that I didn’t get any pictures of all the kids together and I didn’t get one of Wesley that night at all. He met up with some of his little buddies when we got there and I had a hard time keeping up with him.

Olivia Mouse was there.

Emma LOVED this “sandbox”.  She parked herself here for the rest of the night until we were ready to leave.

We had some camera cross fire action going on. :)

As if we hadn’t had enough fun crammed into the past two days, we had a field trip scheduled early this morning  to see the play Charlotte’s Web at the Civic Auditorium.

This was always one of my favorite books as a little girl, and it’s been fun reading it to together in school. Wesley said he really enjoyed the play. Emma was a little restless during the play, but I think she did pretty well for a two year old, and Ava took a nap. ( Thank goodness)

We are planning on having a nice boring day tomorrow.
