Christmas Eve

by Adrienne on December 29, 2010

We spent Christmas Eve with Eric’s Mom and Stepdad.  Before we left to have dinner we took a couple of family pictures.

I love this picture of our tree.

My precious babies.

We had a late lunch at Cracker Barrel.  Almost too late, they closed early.

After we ate we came back home and opened presents.

Her tongue is out in almost every picture we have of her opening presents.

Papaw being silly, and Mimi opening up her present.

Even Reese came to visit.

Stay tuned for more Christmas posts.

Pre-Christmas Happenings

by Adrienne on December 29, 2010

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!  Ours was wonderful!!

Last week we went to see the lights at Smokies stadium.  The kids loved it.

After you drive through the lights, we went to the petting zoo that they had set up.

Emma rode a pony for the first time! She loved it!

The following day, we had our first Christmas celebration with Eric’s grandmother (Maa), and his cousin Joey and his family.

We had so much fun visiting, and watching our kids play and open presents!

Emma’s Third Birthday Party

by Adrienne on December 20, 2010

Emma is three!  Three is my favorite age!  I love it!

We were finally able to have Emma’s party.  Emma requested a ballerina party, but it kind of ended up being a ballerina, flower, princess party.  That’s OK because all of those things are right up Emma’s alley.

We kept things simple this year and just had cake, ice cream, and strawberries.

Here are all the ballerinas in the tutus I made for them. ( I had some help from my friend Sonda.)

They decorated ( with help) the foam tiaras.

The littlest ballerina.

Emma was confused when she was opening her presents because when we told her a present was “from” someone she thought we meant it was “for” them.  She even handed Heather her present when we told her it was from Aunt Heather.  I felt kind of sorry for her.

Emma and Elliott

Cutie Pies!

Happy Birthday Emma!

Emma at three:

  • Emma loves all things pink, girly, and princessy.
  • She is very tall for her age and is in the 98 percentile for height. People often think she is older than she is.
  • She loves the Fancy Nancy books, and books about animals.
  • Her favorite thing to play right now is dress-up. She loves to dress up like the Disney princesses.
  • Her favorite TV show is Max and Ruby.
  • Her favorite movies are Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan.
  • Her favorite snacks are apples, bananas, strawberries, fruit snacks and granola bars.  She loves to snack!
  • Emma has had a big adjustment this year, becoming a big sister.  We had a rocky start, but she is really so sweet to Ava now.  My hope is that they will be close and enjoy each others company and friendship.
  • Emma ADORES Wesley. They are big time pals. Emma can be VERY bossy with Wesley, and I know she gets on his nerves sometimes, but most of the time they get along great! She is crazy about him!
  • Emma sleeps great at night in her toddler bed.  I know that pretty soon she’ll be needing a twin bed, but for now the toddler bed works well.
  • She is not potty trained. I am not happy about this. I’m hoping (and praying) that it will happen soon.
  • She loves to have tea parties and pours us coffee instead of tea.
  • Eric wanted me to put that Emma always says “sweet dreams” to us as we are closing her bedroom door at night, and she plays with the back of his hair when he’s holding her even if she’s mad.  :)

Emma you are so precious and we love you more than you”ll ever know.

Christmas Decor and Tangled

by Adrienne on December 19, 2010

Last Christmas I did a post about our Christmas decorations, and not much has changed.  Although, we do have a new stocking on our mantle this year.

This is our new Disney ornament from our trip to Disney World in March.

An ornament from way back, B.K. ( before kids).

A new ornament from last year.

Awwwe.

Another new ornament. This is Emma’s, Wesley has one similar.

A couple of hand made ornaments from Wesley.

We decided this year we would start a new tradition, and give the kids a new ornament on Christmas Eve. I bought the ornaments yesterday, and I can’t wait to give them to them.

Our Little People nativity set keeps dwindling down. We lost a camel and the angel. The kids still love to play with it though.

Since I took this picture I have put presents under the tree, and Emma hasn’t touched a single one. Whew!

Friday, I FINALLY got to take Emma to see the movie Tangled.  We picked up our BFF’s and took them with us.  Much to my surprise Sonda and I had dressed the girls alike.  It was so cute!

They were even both wearing cowgirl boots!

The movie was AWESOME! I think it might be my new favorite!

Emma and Elliott have recently decided to experiment with scissors. Without us knowing, they gave each other a “trim”. They both confessed to it after the fact, and they both have been given lectures about how scissors are dangerous and we don’t ever play with them, or cut hair with them.  Hopefully, they got the point. And thankfully it was only a tiny amount of hair that was cut.

I’m hoping a movie thats story has everything to do with hair, won’t feed their new obsession with becoming hair stylists.

Ava is 6 Months Old

by Adrienne on December 14, 2010

Can you believe it?  Ava is 6 months old!

At 6 months old Ava is:

  • Sitting up. She can sit up for several seconds and can reach forward to grab a toy, and still keep her balance.  I have to sit with her while she’s doing this, because she is still a little unsteady.
  • Eating rice cereal and several different types of baby food, although she isn’t really a fan.
  • Can wave bye bye.
  • Has two teeth! ( Her bottom two.)
  • Rolls over from tummy to back and back to tummy.
  • Loving books.
  • She gets so excited about Emma and Wesley and especially DADDY!
  • Takes two good daytime naps, and the evening nap I’m hoping we can phase out of soon, so she will go to bed earlier.
  • Weighs 16 lbs 3 oz. wears a size 6-12 months and a size 3 diaper.

I can’t believe half a year has gone by already!

Another little girl in our house has had a birthday, and we finally were able to celebrate it on Sunday.  This is the cake I made her.

Eric was in charge of taking the pictures. I’ll post some of those soon.

We finished with the party just in time, because it was snowing and the roads got pretty bad that night.

I can’t believe that Christmas is next week!! I just ordered our Christmas cards last night.  We paid extra for the 2 day shipping, so hopefully we will get them out in time.   Here is our Christmas card picture.

I wanted to have a nice family picture made this year, but it’s been so crazy around here. I think we did well to get a picture taken at all.

I still have more shopping to do and I have a TON of wrapping left!

I think most everyone know that poor little Emma came down with a terrible virus on Friday.  She had a terrible night and a bad day the next day, which happened to be her birthday.  This is the worst virus anyone in my family has ever had, and we are praying that no one else in the family will get it. We had to reschedule her birthday party, and some other activities we had planned for her birthday.

How sad is this?  Believe it or not she was feeling MUCH better in this picture than she had earlier in the day.  Her fever got up to 105 ( so scary) and she couldn’t even sit up.

She cracked a smile for her picture.  She is sitting in her birthday present from Eric and I, a new chair from Pottery Barn kids.

Thank you to everyone for the prayers for Emma.

On a happier note…

Today was the children’s Christmas program at church.  Wesley had his very first speaking part, and he was amazing! His character “Hank” was from the 40′s.  Here he is in his “Hank” costume.

He worked so hard, and the program was fantastic! I am a very proud Momma!

I decided yesterday to start wrapping presents.  I haven’t put any under the tree, and I’m thinking I probably won’t, until Christmas morning that is.  I found the cutest wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby.

It will go perfect with the labels I ordered earlier this year.

It snowed a little today, and I’m really getting excited about Christmas.  Now, if we can all just stay well.
