Fun Weekend

by Adrienne on June 26, 2011

We had a fun busy weekend.  We had been planning on having a family day on Friday, and the original plan was to go to Dollywood.  Thursday night, we had some terrible storms come through in the middle of the night.  We actually ended up running across the street to our neighbor’s house to take cover in her basement.  It was so scary, and we had a loooooong night, so we ended up not getting up early to get to Dollywood.  Instead we went to the aquarium.

Emma is just being Emma in this picture.

I loved these spotted jellyfish.

Ava thought they were neat too.

Emma being all cutesy wutesy.

These were adorable.  The baby seahorses wrapped their tails around the Mommy seahorses and the Mommy would pull them around.  I didn’t really capture how adorable it was in this picture, but it was just the SWEETEST thing!

( I guess it could be the Daddy I don’t really know how to tell them apart.)

Silly kiddos.

It was a fun day. Hopefully we can have another family day soon!

Saturday, my cousin (in-law) Tara and I went to the Family Resource Fair together.  Tara is planning on homeschooling her girls, and will be doing some pre-school this year with her oldest daughter Sydney.  We went to two workshops that were AWESOME.  It was a lot of information, but I learned SO much and it really got me excited about this coming school year.  I’ve been a little shy about talking about home schooling on my blog because I feel like I don’t know what the heck I’m doing! HA! But, I am feeling a lot better about things, and I’m spending this summer doing some research on different ways to homeschool.  It’s very exciting!

The Resource Fair was held at Crown College.  The campus was gorgeous, and the building was fascinating.  There were lots of neat historical displays and a gorgeous fountain.

A few of the displays.

I couldn’t believe all of the different books and materials.

We had total information overload.  Here are just some of the books and pamphlets that I came home with.

Tara’s husband Joey and their girls hung out at our house while we were there.  The kids had a blast playing in the pool and playing on the slipn’slide.  I’m sad I didn’t take any pictures of them while they were here.

Today I took the Emma and Wesley to see Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  Wesley just finished reading the book and he was really wanting to see the movie.  I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting it to be very good, but I was very pleasantly surprised! It was a great family movie.  I loved it!  Wesley said that it was a lot different from the book, but he loved it too.

I have to share this picture of Emma.  She loves to help me cook and especially bake.  She helped me make brownies the other day and I snapped a picture of her after she “helped” me by licking the spoon.

Father/Daughter Dance

by Adrienne on June 17, 2011

Tonight was the Father/Daughter Dance at our church.  Emma was so excited about it all day.  She was so cute when I started to get her ready.  I let her wear some lip gloss, a little bit of blush and put some sparkly powder on her.  She LOVED it!  She wanted to take her purse with her so that she could take her lip gloss.  She was worried it would come off and wanted to be able to reapply. HA!

Here she is putting some of the sparkly powder on.

She gave Eric his Father’s Day card (from her) a little early.

I snapped some pictures of them before they left.

Eric said that they had a blast, and Emma was just in heaven with all of the pink decorations and pink desserts.  He said she danced the night away and I think she kind of wore him out a little. ;)    I wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

Eric said for the last two songs they had all the little girls go to one side of the room and all of the Daddy’s on the other side.  Then the little girls found their Daddy’s and asked them to dance. They played butterfly kisses, and then . . . Cinderella!

Poor Eric.

Emma thought the song was about her and hasn’t stopped talking about the “Cinderella song”.  She even slept in her Cinderella costume tonight.

Emma also won a door prize.

She was so proud of it!

They had their pictures made at the dance, and Emma says she wants to put that picture in her frame. She found a special place for it in her room.

Eric said that is was the best 2 hours that he had ever spent with just Emma.

I think it was a pretty special night for Emma too. ;)

Pool, Pedicure and the Karate Kid.

by Adrienne on June 16, 2011

Wesley started Karate last week.  He is loving it.  It seems to really be his thing.

Such a cutie!

Yesterday my Mom and I got pedicures.  Heather (my sister) gave me a gift certificate for my birthday, and gave my Mom one for Mother’s Day.  It was such a nice treat.  Here is a picture of our gorgeous feet!

Today we went to Aunt Merrily’s pool.  The kids always have a blast!

Emma and Kate are swimming buddies.

Olivia enjoying the baby pool.

Ava looking all pretty by the pool.  She wouldn’t get in today because the water was a little cool.

Wesley and Adam are big buds.

I couldn’t really figure out how to fit this into the title but. . .

Ava’s birthday present from us FINALLY arrived yesterday!

I ordered it before her birthday, but it was on back order so it took a while to get here.

All of the kids in there chairs watching Toy Story 2.  We love these chairs!  Wesley has had his since he was 2, and they are the best little chairs! (Pottery Barn Kids anywhere chairs)

Ava sure does love her brother (bubba).

Sometimes the best toys are the boxes they come in!

Thirty ONE!

by Adrienne on June 12, 2011

I can’t believe that I turned thirty one today. WHOA! :)

It was a really awesome birthday! I am seriously blessed with way more than I deserve.

My Mom had us over for her traditional birthday lunch and favorite dessert on Friday. She does this for us on our birthdays.  My cake was one of her famous homemade pound cakes.  This is mine and Eric’s favorite dessert!! It is HEAVENLY.

I tried to get a good picture of the kids, but it wasn’t working out for me so well.

Also, I need to remember to discuss with Emma how to be more “lady like” while wearing a skirt. ;)

I love this picture of Emma giving Ava a lesson on letters.

If you ask her how to spell her name she says,  “E-M-M-M-M-M-A”

Saturday evening Eric cooked salmon for me on the grill.  It was SO delicious!  After dinner he and the kids gave me a cake.  (Diet starts TOMORROW!)

Today we went to church. This morning, while I was getting the kids dressed Ava decided she wanted to get in the baby doll crib.  She pulled all of the dolls and blankets out and climbed in all by herself.

Little stinker.

This was also the first time I put a clip in her hair!  Yay!  It stayed in really well, and I think she just looked so adorable in her new dress from Grandmommy!

The kids and I before church.

This afternoon, Eric’s grandmother (Maa) watched the kids so we could have a date.  We went to Turkey Creek did a little shopping, ate dinner at Calhouns and dessert at Baskin Robbins.  I know that frozen yogurt, and fancy schmancy ice cream shops are really popular now, but Baskin Robbins is still my FAVORITE ice cream!

Couldn’t really ask for a much better day!

New Pictures and Fun in the Sun!

by Adrienne on June 7, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids out and did some portraits of them.  This is one of my very least favorite things to do, but it is always worth it.  All I wanted was one good picture of each kid, and a good shot of all three of them.

This first one, is nothing short of a miracle.  I am so thankful it turned out so cute.

My handsome boy.

Beautiful little girl.

Sweet baby!

We ordered prints tonight.  I can’t wait to frame them and hang them up.

We have really been enjoying summer so far!  We finished up school at the end of May, and it has been such a nice break! This was my first year teaching and I am definitely appreciating the summer break more than ever! :)

It has been so hot here the past couple of weeks and the kids have enjoyed playing in their new wading pool, water table and our new slip ‘n slide.

Ava playing in the sand.  Of course she ate some. Gross I know.

Emma has played with this pretty much non stop since we got it this past weekend.

Wesley loves the slip ‘n slide.

Ava got in the pool today for the first time without crying.  She loved it, and then she took an awesomely long nap.

Happy Summer!

Ava’s first birthday party!

by Adrienne on June 6, 2011

Saturday we had Ava’s first birthday party!

( I also got all of my hair cut off earlier last week.)

The fun cupcakes!

We had so much delicious food! The only thing I can take credit for, is assembling these fruit kabobs.  Eric grilled delicious hamburgers and hot dogs, and my Dad made his famous pasta salad and homemade bean dip.  Delicious!

Ava got lots of adorable outfits and fun toys!

Emma was there to help Ava open her presents!

Ava LOVED her baby doll from Mimi!

Isn’t her outfit adorable!  A big shout out to Sonda for making this for us!  This was the best picture that I got of her in it, but we are going to do a little first birthday photo shoot of her in it later this week.

Ava eating her pink cupcake.

Happy Birthday Ava!
