Wednesday was a momentous day for the Reagans.
Eric finally agreed to let Emma get her ears pierced. She has been begging us for months, but he was not fond of the idea. He finally caved.
I had called ahead to make sure that there were two people there so they could do them at the same time. (That turned out to be a very wise decision.) Earlier that afternoon while we were at the Giffords house, Ava fell down the stairs. I didn’t see it happen, but Wesley and Emma did and they told me she had only fallen down the last two or three steps. I was a little concerned about her foot, because she cried really hard and kept holding it and saying ouch. But, she fell asleep in the car and I was hoping it was only bruised or maybe sprained at the worst.
We picked up Eric and headed to the mall. Emma was so excited!

The moment she has been waiting for!

We have a video of the actual moment, but it is way too pitiful. She only cried for a minute, and a sucker really helped her feel better.

All smiles and so excited about her Hello Kitty earrings.

I let her pick out some earrings for in a few weeks when she can change them out.

Ava woke up when we got into the mall and was pretty fussy, but we went ahead and went to dinner. It was while we were there that we realized something was probably broken because she was just inconsolable. We headed to the Knoxville Orthopedic ER and things went from bad to worse. She cried the ENTIRE time we were there and it was just so heartbreaking to see her in so much pain. I was really shocked when the doctor came in and told us her leg was broken! So shocked that I burst into tears. I gained my composure pretty quickly because I didn’t want Ava to be even more upset. Poor thing. Once they got her cast on she calmed down a lot. It was a really rough night and I pretty much spent the next day holding her, but she seems to be in much better spirits now. She still will not try to walk or even put any pressure on it. We are hoping that she will soon.

She has been totally spoiled with all kinds of treats, stuffed animals, balloons, Barbies, homemade cupcakes and handmade cards.

She’s kind of found her own way of scooting and crawling around. And she’s been playing some today.

And I have to say she looks pretty adorable in that pink cast!
